Pet Newsletter December 2025

Date: 11 Dec 2025

Hello everyone

It’s great to see some warm weather, but it’s a timely reminder that summer has its own set of hazards for our pets.

Never leave your pet in a car

The temperature inside a locked car can rise rapidly, even with the windows slightly open. Check out this graph and spread the word.

Food on the naughty list for dogs:

Those puppy-dog eyes might be irresistible, but some festive treats are strictly off-limits for our four-legged friends. This holiday season, keep these goodies away from curious noses and wagging tails:

  • Grapes & raisins
  • Christmas pudding & mince pies
  • Chocolate
  • Bones (especially cooked ones that splinter easily)
  • Onion, garlic & chives
  • Macadamia nuts
  • Fatty scraps like ham rind or BBQ drippings.

And don’t forget — secure those bins! Dogs are experts at sniffing out leftovers.

If you think your dog has snuck any of these foods, call us straight away. The sooner treatment begins, the better the outcome.

In this update:

  • Faddy La La’s lick of approval
  • Lessons from Louie
  • Olive bounces back.

We wish you and your family all the best for a safe and happy festive season.

Thank you for your ongoing support throughout the year – it means a great deal to us.

With best wishes

The team at Franklin Vets.
